All workers should take precautions to limit the impact of the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). PFT pushes for Asbestos Testing in Philly School District

On January 13th, the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers (PFT) announced that they had successfully begun testing for asbestos at Carnell Elementary. This came after scheduled testing was delayed, forcing teachers and students to decide whether to come into school without test results. There have been multiple asbestos exposures in Philadelphia School District schools in the past months. We support the PFT's work to ensure safety in our schools, where an asbestos exposure can threaten students, teachers, and facility workers. We will be holding our annual Workers Memorial Day Program on Friday, April 24th. Every year, PhilaPOSH gathers injured workers, union members, lawyers, and health and safety professionals to honor those who have died on the job.
