We want to thank all of the families, unions, community members, and elected officials who attended this year’s Workers’ Memorial Day. Every loss of life on the job is a tragedy. This year, in our region, there were more than 150 of these tragedies. Workers’ Memorial Day allows us to mourn as a community and recommit to the work it will take to prevent these deaths.
We especially want to thank all the unions and individuals who made Memorial Gifts to make this event possible and cover the cost of attendance for fallen workers’ families: IBEW Local 98, Laborers Local 57, USW 10-00086, Operating Engineers Local 542, Roofers Local 30, Sheet Metal Workers Local 19, Teamsters Local 623, AFSCME DC 88, IUEC Local 5, IUPAT District 21, TWU Local 234, Philadelphia Chapter APRI, Paul Gottlieb, AFSCME Local 1739, Boilermakers Local 13, Unite HERE Local 54, the Family of Matthew Holmes, and the Family of Jeff Davis.
