37th Annual Workers Memorial Day Program

April 25, 2025

We are honored to invite you to our 37th Annual Workers Memorial Day program on Friday, April 25th. This day is recognized globally as a time to honor those who have tragically lost their lives at work. Our event in Philadelphia, co-sponsored by PhilaPOSH and the Philadelphia Council, AFL-CIO, is the oldest and largest Workers Memorial Day event in the United States.

According to OSHA in 2024 the number of workers killed on the job declined 11% compared to 2023.  Outside of COVID-related deaths, it is the lowest number of worker fatalities OSHA has been mandated to investigate since 2017.

In Pennsylvania, there is no formal record of how many public sector workers are killed on the job.  In Pennsylvania public sector workers are not covered under OSHA legislation.  We are committed to ensuring the safety of ALL workers. Currently, nearly 600,000 public sector workers are not covered by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). We want to change this by asking you to join us in fighting for legislation to include all workers, including those in the public sector.

We will be joined by family members from our community who have lost loved ones to work-related injuries or diseases. It is always our privilege to bring these families together with unionists, community activists, and health and safety advocates who understand the depth of their loss and are dedicated to fighting for safer workplaces.

For your convenience, you can register now or you can download a reservation form to mail in.

Please note that the deadline for reservations is Friday, April 18, 2024.

We look forward to your participation and support this year.
